Leaving school and heading to Holy Cross is the first step to a new future. This is a new and exciting time for you as you prepare to make the transition from school to sixth form college. In college you will meet new students, experience a new environment, new teachers and new courses but you will also benefit from greater independence, learning new things and making new friends.

Staff and students will make you feel welcome and help you to settle in quickly so that you will soon feel very much at home here. You will also be in a more adult environment which gives you more freedom, self-confidence and autonomy.

What it means coming to Holy Cross: At the heart of Holy Cross is our mission, which believes that every person has dignity and value as a unique individual.

Holy Cross College was confirmed as one of the Top 10 Sixth Form Colleges (SFC) in the country based on the latest government league tables from January 2020.  This is wonderful news and credit goes to all our students and staff who have worked together so effectively to achieve these fantastic results.

Our Excellence Programme is open to all our students. We host guest speakers and our staff run many societies that aim to nurture and develop our young people as they build the skills for their future. We also run weekly workshops for those looking to apply to the most competitive courses, including High Tariff universities, Medical careers and Oxford and Cambridge universities.

Holy Cross students celebrated exceptional LAMDA results with all candidates (bronze/silver/gold) achieving Distinctions. LAMDA is the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art, a world-leading conservatoire and globally recognised awarding body for the dramatic arts.

June 2020 marked the 10-year anniversary of the college’s Art and Design Department’s annual end of year exhibition. To date over 1500 students have exhibited their work at these events and the current show was simply named ‘10’ to honour the decennial.

We also hold one of the best sporting reputations throughout the North West and, increasingly, at regional, national and international levels. Our sporting teams and individuals consistently achieve a high degree of success, both competitively and recreationally, in a variety of sports.

Holy Cross has a very strong tradition of enrichment and you will benefit from a wide variety of educational visits and outside speakers in addition to your normal lessons.

You will develop your skills in ways that help you to learn as individuals and to prepare you to continue your studies in Higher Education or to move into employment. We encourage you to give your views about teaching, learning and assessment and teachers use these to continually improve lessons and other aspects of learning.
