FAQs

How many subjects can I choose?

Typically a student would select three A level courses though in some cases students can take four A levels.  Alongside this students have the opportunity to complete the Extended Project Qualification.

How do I decide which subjects to take?

Our best advice is to research your options for after sixth form and see if there are any prerequisite subjects, mathematics for an Engineering Apprenticeship for example, and select those subjects you need.  Then, if they are different, select the subjects that you are most enthusiastic about, two years is a long time to take a subject that does not enthuse you.

Do I have to be a practising Christian to go to Canon Slade Sixth Form?

No, whilst our strong Christian ethos runs through everything we do we welcome students of all faiths and no faith into the sixth form based on their academic results.  We have high expectations that our sixth form comport themselves morally and with maturity as the role models they are.

How will I get to know people if I did not attend Canon Slade School?

Once a student arrives on the first day they are part of the Canon Slade family, “Once a Sladian always a Sladian” as the saying goes.  All students take part in our extensive induction programme to familiarise themselves with the environment, our expectations and to build the foundations for lasting friendships.

Do I need al 8’s and 9’s at GCSE?

No, our entry criteria starts at 5’s and 6’s, please see our entry requirements here
